Handmade ceramic and sterling silver Seascape drop earrings in blue

These simple earrings have a wave design pressed into the wet clay, which has then been painted deep blue, with a wash of soft blue across the sky. They are part of a range of seascapes and seabird designs.

As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.

After forming the drops from fine white clay, I imprint the designs. When dry, I sand the sides and back, round off the corners to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed all over so is very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.

• Each drop is 9mm wide (about ⅓”) wide and about 19mm (just under 1") long, the total length including the rings is 26mm/1"

• All my jewellery comes in a hand-stamped box
