These star shaped studs have a deep blue washed across the surface, leaving a white stripe down the centre. They are from a range of coordinating colourful accessories. As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.
After forming the studs from fine white clay, I imprint the designs. When dry, I sand the sides and round off the edges to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed on the front and sides so is very smooth. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.
