This brooch features a a row of bright yellow sunflowers, with a background in shades of sky blue.
As with all my jewellery it is made and decorated entirely by hand.
After forming my brooches from fine white clay, I imprint my design. When dry, I sand the sides of the brooches and round off the edges to ensure they are super smooth. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. Being glazed on the top and edge they are smooth to the touch whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.
