Handmade ceramic and sterling silver Waves heart stud earrings in blue

These dainty heart stud earrings have a design of waves pressed into the wet clay, which have been painted in shades of blue. As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.

After forming the studs from fine white clay, I imprint the designs. When dry, I sand the sides and round off the edges to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed on the front and sides and are very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.

• Each stud is just under 1cm across the widest part (a little over ⅓”)
