Trees ceramic and sterling silver heart stud earrings in pink and purple

These heart shaped pink and purple stud earrings are from a range of woodland designs, inspired by the area where I live – beautiful rural West Wales. As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.

After forming the studs from fine white clay, I imprint the designs. When dry, I sand the sides and round off the edges to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed on the front and sides and are very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.

• Each stud is just under 14mm across the widest part (half an inch)
