Seahorses handmade ceramic and sterling silver long drop earrings in turquoise, green and blue

A pair of spiny seahorses adorn these earrings, washed with shades of blue and green. As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.

After forming the drops from fine white clay, I imprinted the design. When dry, I sanded the sides and rounded off the corners to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then had their first firing. Next I painted them using under-glazes and applied a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed on the front, back and sides so is very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.

• The ceramic drops are about 13mm (half an inch) across, and 27mm, just over an inch, long, and the total length including the rings is 35mm, one and a quarter inches
