Sunset ceramic deco style and sterling silver stud earrings in red, yellow and blue

A bright red sun with red and golden yellow rays is split between these two stud earrings. There is a border of deep blue around the edges of each earring.

As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.

After forming the studs from fine white clay, I imprint the designs. When dry, I sand the sides and round off the corners to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed on the front and sides so is very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item. After the second firing I glue the studs securely to the ceramic.

• Each earring is just over 13mm square (a little under ½”)
