Summer Garden heart-shaped ceramic and sterling silver drop earrings in lilac and lavender

The summer garden in full flower inspired this design. These pretty earrings have flowers stamped into the wet clay, and a wash of pale lilac and lavender blue over the background.

As with all my jewellery they are made and decorated entirely by hand.

After forming the drops from fine white clay, I imprint my design. When dry, I sand the back and sides and round off any corners to ensure they are super smooth. They then have their first firing. Next I paint them using under-glazes and apply a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware.

Being glazed all over they are smooth against the skin whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.
